Premier Thermal Solutions, LLC (PTS) is a manufacturing company providing products and services primarily to the automotive, heavy truck, energy and agriculture industries.  PTS’s customers include OEMs, distributors, forgers and foundries.  PTS services its customers through multiple facilities located throughout the Midwestern United Sates operating 24 hours per day.

Nature and Scope

Plans, directs and implements the organizations safety program to ensure safe, healthy, and accident-free work environment through Plant Managers and Supervisors. This position solicits training requests, schedules appropriate instructors and schedules appropriate personnel to receive necessary training in a timely manner. Also responsible for maintaining and coordinating enforcement of company safety policies and procedures at local levels. Assume role of customer service person on a daily basis. Provide information regarding safety, education & training in a customer focused manner to PTS team members.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Plans and implements safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations.
  • Plans and implements programs to train managers and employees in work site safety practices, fire prevention, and correct handling techniques for chemicals, toxins, equipment, and other materials.
  • Prepares studies and analyses of industrial accident causes and hazards to health for use by company personnel and outside agencies.
  • Inspects organization facilities to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, determines corrective or preventative measures where indicated, and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented.
  • Positive cooperative employee relations maintained.
  • Organize, develop, and maintain Safety Management System (SMS)
  • Provide leadership and direction to plant level safety teams.
  • Various reports formatted and generated in a timely manner (safety matrix, safety training schedules, safety reports, etc.)
  • Provides information, signs, posters, barriers, and other materials to warn of potential and actual safety hazards and to prevent access to hazardous conditions to all locations.
  • Leads the investigation of accidents and injuries and cooperates in the preparation of material and evidence for organization use in hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations.
  • Oversees the administration of workers' compensation program, including working with the insurance carrier to reduce employee lost time. (Review medical reports, work with medical staff to attain best treatment and case management.)
  • Represents the organization in community or industry safety groups and programs.
  • Maintains safety files and records.
  • Manages safety project activities including scheduling, tracking, and planning for safety assessments, site investigations, feasibility studies, and remedial action plans.
  • Analyzes, develops, and implements activities to ensure the safe and efficient operation of all remediation efforts.
  • Interprets data and observations to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry guidelines and advises management accordingly.
  • Review new equipment purchases for safety and ergonomics.
  • Review workstations to make suggested changes to improve ergonomics and/or other health and safety concerns.
  • Evaluate and maintain personal protective equipment.
  • Review and maintain SDS system.
  • Oversee safety budget
  • Maintain community relations with respect to safety and Premier Thermal Solutions role in providing a safe environment.
  • Coordinate monthly location safety inspections
Education & Training
  • Provide internal/external training for employees personally and/or with coordinated resources
  • Distribute training needs analysis annually at all locations and gather data. Submit in report format to Plant General Managers for planning for budget year.
  • Responsible to designate training procedures, utilizing knowledge of effectiveness of such methods as individual training, group instruction, lectures, on-the-job training, demonstrations, conferences, meetings, and workshops.
  • Schedule training programs as required.
  • Coordinate and schedule all locations & departments trainers, outside vendors, on line training programs, as appropriate to satisfy training needs.
  • Train assigned instructors and supervisors in effective techniques for training in such areas as those concerned with new employee orientation, specific on-the-job training, apprenticeship programs, health and safety practices, promotional development, upgrading, retraining, and leadership development
  • Provide training assessment measures.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain behavior based safety program.
  • Responsible development of maintenance of safety, education and training budget.
  • Track safety and training costs to budgets
  • Coordinate and assist in tracking employee training for all locations & assist in assuring training requirements are fulfilled.
  • Various reports formatted and generated in a timely manner (training matrix, training schedules, safety reports, etc.)
  • Responsible to organize and develop training manuals, reference library, testing and evaluation procedures, multimedia visual aids, and other educational materials.
  • Responsible to formulate training policies and schedules, utilizing knowledge of identified training needs, company production processes, changes in products, procedures, or services.
  • Responsible to coordinate and monitor compliance of apprenticeship program for maintenance staff of all locations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Candidate Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in related fields or equivalent practical experience is required.
  • Three to five years of specific manufacturing experience (industrial setting).
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA and MIOSHA standards
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Ability to maintain the highly confidential nature of human resource work.
  • Training experience with adult work force.
  • Highly-efficient, motivated, self-starter that is able to deliver timely, accurate results in a dynamic environment.
  • Outstanding organizational skills, accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Ability to plan, coordinate, and direct personnel training and staff development programs for the company: Confers with management and supervisory personnel in order to determine training needs.
  • Ability to compile data and analyze past and current year safety & training requirements to prepare budgets and justify funds requested.
