Premier Thermal is a manufacturing company providing products and services primarily to the automotive, heavy truck, energy and agriculture industries.  PT’s customers include OEMs, distributors, forgers and foundries.  PT services its customers through multiple facilities located throughout the Midwestern United States operating 24 hours per day.

Basic Function

The Plant Manager is responsible for developing, implementing and controlling all manufacturing systems to include customer orders, controlling and minimizing rejections, handling and following up on customer complaints, optimizing inventory, and specifying processing cycles.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Provides leadership, guidance and counseling to direct reports.
  • Coordinate production and steel inventories with Inside Sales Representative and Plant Superintendent.
  • Assist customers with product problems, new product information, prototype assistance and other special requests.
  • Assure raw and finished steel product inventories are optimized.
  • Lead the development of documented production procedures for all aspects of manufacturing.
  • Order steel and key production supplies to maintain on-time customer deliveries.
  • Respond to customer complaints. Let employees, supervisors, managers and sales know about any complaints or problems.
  • Follow up on customer complaints by contacting the customer. Evaluate the effectiveness of the corrective actions.
  • Ensure that proper production procedures and techniques are maintained and adhered to throughout the plant.
  • Aid in the analysis of rejected work and make proper disposition.
  • Authorizes all purchases and expenses, within corporate guidelines.
  • Ensure the complete maintenance and accuracy of quality records as prescribed by the Quality Assurance Manual.
  • Work with and develop a high performing team to excel in the areas of safety and other Key
  • Performance Indicators set by the company to drive the operational efficiency.
  • Take part in monthly meetings with detailed analysis of performance with respect to the KPI targets.
  • Create a culture where employees feel respected and satisfied.
  • Responsible for leading plant safety initiatives and completing all required annual safety and environmental training.
  • Know, understand, and follow all applicable Federal, State, and Local environmental legal requirements  and practices.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS / ABILITIES

  • Must maintain high quality standards, have a pleasant disposition and use tact in dealing with employees and customers.
  • Ability to plan, determine, formulate, establish and manage complete production systems.
  • Working knowledge of steel supply and basic alloy requirements
  • Good knowledge of the automotive industry and standards such as IS09001/IATF16949 and ISO 14001.
  • Must be able to supervise, communicate, use computer related quality programs and have good writing skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Must be able to us higher mathematics involving engineering principles

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Management or Engineering
  • Previous supervisory or management experience
  • A minimum of five years of manufacturing experience or equivalent
  • Knowledge of heat treating principles including time, temperature, transformation relations, different
  • Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) steels, and quality control using SPC (Statistical Process Control) techniques.
  •  Must maintain a valid driver’s license in accordance with their position.
  • Must sign a non-compete agreement.
